Documentation for any project comes in various forms, such as technical instructions, special user instructions, data conversion instructions, user instructions, and testing documentation. ICOA documentation includes: BRDs and specifications,Process Flowcharts, Procedural documentation, Development Phase Rlease Notes, and World Wide Status Meeting Minutes.

BRDs and Specifications

A BRD is a Business Requirement Document stating a need for possible revision of functions within the ICOA project. The BRD is created by a Business Analyst and freqently necessitates a revision in functionality that affects the Astea, Inc. software utilized in the ICOA project. A change to internally developed functionality is also possible. The scope of change covered by a BRD may also require a revision in the process flow that describes the affected function.

Astea reviews the BRD and provides ICOA with an estimate of the time required and cost of implementing the work set forth in the BRD. ICOA reviews the estimate, and if it is acceptable it is signed and returned to Astea. Astea then develops detailed specifications indicating how the work requested in the BRD is to be accomplished. Astea sends an electronic copy of the completed specification to ICOA. Each specification is placed after the BRD so that the electronic copy and hard copy of the BRD include all specifications.

Process Flowcharts

Process Flowcharts describe graphically the functions the ICOA project encompasses. Flowcharts are designed by the Business Analysts and sent to Document Management for production.

Procedural Documentation

Documentation of procedures include Change Management Process and a series of documents covering the Support Process for ICOA.

Development Phase Release Notes

At each phase of development a release is prepared giving technical instructions, special user instructions, data conversion instructions, user instructions, and verb documentation.

World Wide Status Meeting Minutes

Since ICOA is an international project, each week a world wide conference call takes place updating all involved in the project. An actions and issues log is created and decisions recorded.
