Patrick J. Martin
Chairman of the Board
President and Chief Executive Officer
Pat Martin is president, chairman and CEO of StorageTek.
He joined StorageTek in July 2000, after 23 years with the
Xerox Corporation.
At Xerox, he was the president of the North American Solutions
Group (NASG), Xerox's largest marketing operation, with responsibility
for $8 billion in annual revenue. He also served as president
of Xerox's largest business division, the Office Document
Products Division, with worldwide revenue in excess of $8
billion.
Martin holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics from
Iona College (New York State). He is a graduate of the Harvard
University executive education program, PMD and has both a
master of science and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from
George Washington University.
Eula Adams
Vice President
Global Services
Eula Adams is vice president of StorageTek’s Global Services business unit. Adams is responsible for overseeing the services unit, which is an integral part of the company's information lifecycle management strategy. StorageTek’s Global Services revenue was approximately $850 million in 2003, representing almost 40 percent of the company’s total revenue, up 11 percent from 2002.
Adams joined StorageTek® in 2004. Prior to joining StorageTek, Adams served as senior executive vice president of First Data Corp., an $8.4 billion global leader in electronic commerce and payment services. Adams served as president and chief operation officer of First Data's Resources unit and its Merchant Services unit. Prior to First Data, Adams was a partner at Deloitte & Touche.
Adams is an active member in the business community. He is a member of the board of directors for both Solidus Networks and NetBank. He also has professional affiliations with companies such as Wells Fargo Merchant Services, MasterCard International and Nihon Card Processing. Adams resides in Highlands Ranch, CO.
Jon Benson
Vice President & General Manager
Automated Tape Solutions
Jon Benson is the vice president and general manager of Automated
Tape Solutions. In his current position, Benson is responsible
for overseeing the continued success of StorageTek's market
leading automated tape and MVS vertical products.
During his tenure at StorageTek, Benson has spearheaded more
than 15 key product initiatives. Most recently, he was the
vice president and product line manager of StorageTek's tape
libraries division. Benson was a key player in the design
and delivery of the StorageTek StreamLine™ SL8500 and
StreamLine™ SL500, the industry's most advanced enterprise
tape library systems since the introduction of the StorageTek
PowderHorn® 9310. Benson joined StorageTek in 1987. He
has more than 20 years experience in the storage technology
industry.
He has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from
Colorado State University. Benson lives in Superior, Colo.,
with his wife and four children.
Pierre Cousin
Corporate Vice President
Research, Development and Engineering
Pierre Cousin is the corporate vice president of Research,
Development and Engineering. In his current position, Cousin
is responsible for aligning the company’s engineering functions
into a centralized research, development and engineering
organization. This organization oversees the work on design
and development programs that support the strategic aims of the
Automated Tape Solutions and the Information Lifecycle Management
Solutions business units.
Previously, Cousin was the vice president and general manager
of StorageTek’s Online Solutions business unit where his primary
role was to lead the disk and storage networking activity at the
worldwide level and to position StorageTek as a major player in
this arena. Cousin has also served as the vice president and
assistant to chairman. He also held the position of vice president,
Client-Server Business Group, where he was responsible for the design,
development, manufacturing, marketing and support of StorageTek
open-systems products.
Cousin joined StorageTek in 1997 as general manager, Southern
Region, Europe, Africa and the Middle East and president of StorageTek
France. He was instrumental in building a new management team in the
Southern Europe region, which has directly contributed to StorageTek's
continued success in EAME. Prior to joining StorageTek, Cousin worked
in senior positions at a variety of high-profile international organizations.
Most recently, Cousin spent eight years at Bull Corp. where he was
vice president and general manager of the GCOS business group. Cousin
also has worked with McDonnell Douglas and Digital Equipment Corp.
Nigel Dessau
Vice President
Chief Marketing Officer
Nigel Dessau joined StorageTek as vice president and chief
marketing officer (CMO) in 2005. He is responsible for all aspects
of the company’s marketing, communications and branding efforts.
Dessau reports directly to chairman, president and CEO Patrick J. Martin,
and is a member of the StorageTek executive management team.
Dessau has spent nearly 20 years in sales, marketing and
executive management positions at IBM Corp. in both the United States
and Europe. Prior to joining StorageTek, Dessau was vice president of
IBM’s Virtualization Solutions in the Systems and Technology Group.
He was responsible for driving acceptance of the company’s Virtualization
Solutions in the market and across IBM. He also served as vice president of
Marketing Management at the company’s On Demand Business unit, where he led
the marketing strategy work that transitioned IBM’s focus from "e-business"
to "On Demand Business."
Angel Garcia
Corporate Vice President International
Operations
Angel Garcia is the corporate vice president of International
Operations for StorageTek. He is responsible for operations in Europe,
Africa and the Middle East as well as growth markets including Latin America,
Australia and New Zealand, Japan and Korea, South Asia and Greater China.
Garcia came to StorageTek from IBM Chile where he was the
managing director. For 22 years, prior to his move to IBM,
Garcia held significant roles at Xerox Corporation as vice
president, Global Tele-Web Operations; vice president, Marketing
and Operations; and U.S. Operations. He has held country manager
roles in Ecuador, Chile, Venezuela, Portugal and Spain.
Garcia holds a master’s degree in business administration from University A.Ibanez.
Roger C. Gaston
Corporate Vice President, Human Resources
Roger Gaston is corporate vice president of Human Resources
for StorageTek. He directs human resource development, employee
health and services, employee compensation and benefits, technical
and non-technical training and organizational effectiveness
on a global basis. Mr. Gaston joined StorageTek in 2001.
Prior to joining StorageTek, Gaston spent five years as senior
vice president of Human Resources at Toys R Us. He held similar
positions at Carson, Pirie, Scott & Co., Finast Supermarkets
and the May Department Stores. Mr. Gaston began his career
in 1978 following graduation with a bachelor of science degree
in psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College.
John Kitlen
Director, Internal Audit
John Kitlen is the director of Internal Audit for StorageTek.
In his current position, Kitlen is responsible for executing the
company’s annual internal audit plan, assisting in its Sarbanes-Oxley
compliance efforts, conducting risk assessments and assisting the
company in developing appropriate internal controls.
Prior to joining StorageTek in March 2005, Kitlen led
the internal audit function at Level 3 Communications where
he managed the internal audit process across Europe.
Prior to Level 3, he held various financial management
positions at Boulder, Colorado-based companies Leasetec Corp.
and Hauser Chemical Research. He also conducted financial
audits and developed financial statements for clients during
his tenure as a senior accountant at Deloitte & Touche.
Kitlen has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Florida.
He also is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Robert S. Kocol
Corporate Vice President
Chief Financial Officer
Robert Kocol is StorageTek corporate vice president and chief
financial officer. Prior to his present position, he served
as vice president of financial planning and operations.
Kocol has been with StorageTek in various capacities since
1980, starting in the company's printer operations and including
positions there in program management and as controller over
an 11-year span. He joined the headquarters financial team
in 1991 as director of financial operations. Kocol was subsequently
promoted to director of worldwide field operations finance
and administration. In 1996 he was named vice president of
financial planning and operations.
Prior to StorageTek, Kocol worked for General Motors in Mississippi
as a financial analyst.
Kocol holds an MBA from Florida Tech University and a bachelor's
degree from Mississippi State University. He is a certified
public accountant.
Michael P. McGuire
Vice President & General Manager
North America Sales and Services
Michael McGuire is vice president of North America Sales and Services.
McGuire has responsibility for day-to-day field operations in the U.S.
and Canada, including protecting the company's current customer base and
growing the business. He reports to Patrick J. Martin, chairman, president
and chief executive officer.
In his current position, McGuire oversees more than 1,800 sales
and service employees and field support functions through five regions
in the U.S. and Canada.
McGuire has been with StorageTek for more than 15 years.
Prior to his current position, he was vice president/general
manager for StorageTek's central region where he had responsibility
for sales and services revenue and operations. He has held various
positions within the company including director for central region
strategic accounts, vice president of Customer Satisfaction and business
unit director for StorageTek's Central Canadian Sales operation.
McGuire graduated with honors from the University of Western
Ontario Ivey School of Business. He also holds a bachelor's degree
with honors in sociology.
Michael McLay
Vice President, Global Accounts
Michael R. McLay is vice president of Global Accounts.
In this role, McLay leads a global accounts organization
designed to support the worldwide business opportunities
of StorageTek’s largest and most strategic accounts. He
reports directly to Patrick J. Martin, chairman, president
and chief executive officer.
Prior to assuming this position, Michael served as vice
president, U.S. / Canada Sales and Service, Global Channels
and Strategic Alliances from 2001-2004. He also has served StorageTek
as vice president and general manager of the Central Region, which
covered StorageTek’s presence in 15 states and all of
Canada.
McLay joined StorageTek in 1982 and has more than 24 years'
experience in sales, marketing, operational management and new
business development in the high-technology industry. Born in
Burlington, Ontario, Canada, McLay is a graduate of both the
Queen's Executive Program and Mohawk College of Applied Arts
and Technology.
Roy Perry
Corporate Vice President, Global Supply Chain Management
Roy Perry is corporate vice president of Global Supply Chain
Management. Perry is responsible for StorageTek's global supply
chain, manufacturing, logistics, parts depots, quality processes
and business management processes, real estate and project
management, travel, meeting services, corporate security services,
document and administrative services and the StorageTek Information
Systems organization.
Prior to joining StorageTek, Perry spent four and a half
years with Dell Computer as the vice president of Worldwide
Manufacturing and Customer Experience, its Home and Small
Business segment, Nashville operation and its Dimension, Latitude
and Inspiron Manufacturing operations. He also spent 15 years
with IBM, and two years with Allied Signal-Aerospace in increasingly
significant leadership and management roles.
Perry is a Sloan Fellow and holds a master's degree in management
from Stanford University, a master's degree in electrical
engineering from Iowa State University and a bachelor's degree
in electrical engineering from Prairie View A & M University.
Stephanie Pianka
Executive Assistant to the Chairman, President and CEO
Stephanie Pianka is the executive assistant to the StorageTek chairman, president and CEO.
In this role she assists Patrick J. Martin with the administrative operations of the executive
management team and board of directors. She also leads several cross-functional business programs.
Prior to joining StorageTek, Pianka was a managing director and member of the board of directors for
GE Capital Financial Guaranty Insurance where she was responsible for operations & six sigma quality.
Pianka spent over 11 years in senior leadership roles at GE, in the areas of Information Systems,
Finance, Operations & Six Sigma Quality within both the industrial and financial divisions - working both
domestically and internationally. She began her career with Data General Corporation as a Systems Engineer.
Pianka holds a master’s in business administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business and
a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the State University of New York at Oswego. She has attended the
Six Sigma Academy in Phoenix and is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
Brenda Zawatski
Vice President and General Manager
Information Lifecycle Management Solutions
Brenda Zawatski is the vice president and general manager of
Information Lifecycle Management Solutions. In her current position,
Zawatski, who brings more than 20 years storage industry experience,
is responsible for strategic messaging and campaigns for all products,
solutions and acquisitions for the ILMS customer-driven business unit.
Previously, Zawatski served as vice president of Product and
Solutions Marketing for VERITAS Software, where her primary role was
to direct the company’s business and marketing strategy. This included
product and solutions, market/customer segmentation, marketing campaigns,
product launches and all marketing content in support of the sales organization
and external communications. Prior to her move to VERITAS, Zawatski held
significant roles at IBM as vice president, Tivoli Storage Software;
vice president, Removable Media Storage Solutions; and director of S/390
Enterprise Systems.
Zawatski holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Accounting and
Computer Science from Penn State University.
