RSM Driver

Note: Only use this driver, if you do not plan to use a back up software application such as Veritas, etc. This driver should only be used with Windows as your backup solution.

The StorageTek SCSI Library Removable Storage Driver (RSM) allows you to utilize StorageTek SCSI tape libraries natively with the Windows 2000 Removable Storage Services.

StorageTek provides drivers for the entire range of the SCSI libraries including the TimberWolf® 9730, 9738, 9740, L20, L40,L80, L180 and L700 tape libraries. In addition, the drivers can be used for products that are end-of-life (EOL) , including the TimberWolf® 9710, 9714 and 7430 SCSI Library. These StorageTek drivers have been certified for Windows 2000 by the Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL). RSM driver for Windows 2003 32bit and 64bit drivers only support the L20, L40, L80, L180, and L700.

Note: The RSM driver is not currently compatible with version 1.2 of the Library Manager operating on the L700 tape library. If you have an L700 tape library with version 1.2 of Library Manager installed, the RSM driver will need to be disabled using the "Disable" button.

To disable the RSM driver:

  1. Click Start --> Programs --> Adminstrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Device Manager
  2. Click on Medium Changer (changer0)
  3. In the General page, set Device Usage to Disable
Note for IE 5.5 users: Internet Explorer Saves HTML Content Instead of the Active Document. To work around this problem:
  1. Choose to open the document when you receive the Open dialog box.
  2. Click Save As on the File menu after the document opens to save the document to your computer. Note that you can also right-click the download link, and then click Save Target As.
