Business issues
Pragati’s need for data storage had been growing steadily. The company needed larger capacity and increased scalability, as well as enhanced reliability and efficiency. So with an eye toward meeting its growing storage needs and providing proactive repository services, Pragati began looking for a vendor to help streamline its data storage and retrieval processes.

Solutions
The company procured and deployed an L40 tape library and Application Storage Manager (ASM) software from StorageTek. The automated tape library has two LTO Generation 1 tape drives and 40 LTO tapes, providing up to 8 terabytes of compressed storage capacity. This combination was selected for its ability to handle and streamline the company’s diverse storage requirements. Pragati recognized that the solution would help the company manage its storage in a cost-effective manner, easily maintain multiple copies of terabytes of data and meet customers’ changing requirements.

Business benefits
The StorageTek solution has helped Pragati facilitate better management of a large flow of data that is a highly dynamic in nature and frequently accessed by customers. The retrieval system has significantly reduced manual intervention and eliminated operational glitches that hinder a smooth workflow. Looking ahead, the scalable solution leaves Pragati well positioned to handle ongoing increases in data generated by its customers’ desktop publishing (DTP) and printing processes.
